Provision of Air Defense Equipment, Ammunition, and Armored Vehicles
The U.S. government has decided to provide an additional $425 million (approximately 580 billion KRW) worth of military supplies to Ukraine.
On the 16th (local time), the White House announced that it will provide Ukraine with additional air defense equipment, air-to-ground munitions, armored vehicles, and key military supplies.
The military supplies that the U.S. plans to deliver to Ukraine in the coming months include hundreds of interceptor missiles, dozens of tactical air defense systems, a significant amount of ammunition, hundreds of armored personnel carriers and infantry fighting vehicles, thousands of armored vehicles, and additional artillery systems.
U.S. President Joe Biden held a phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the same day to discuss ways to support Ukraine against Russia's invasion. According to the White House, during the call, President Biden explained efforts to increase security assistance to Ukraine through the end of his presidential term in January next year. President Zelenskyy outlined plans to achieve victory against Russia.
Additionally, President Biden plans to hold a virtual meeting next month with leaders of countries belonging to the "Ukraine Defense Contact Group" to discuss further support measures for Ukraine.
