Geumjeong District Mayor Election and Ganghwa County Governor Leading for People Power Party
In the early stages of vote counting, the by-election for the governor of Yeonggwang-gun, Jeollanam-do is showing an extremely close race.
According to the National Election Commission as of 9:40 PM on the 16th, in the Yeonggwang-gun election, Democratic Party candidate Jang Se-il is leading with 39.6%. Following closely is Progressive Party candidate Lee Seok-ha with 35.4%. Jang Hyun of the Party for National Innovation is in third place with 23.0%. Independent candidate Oh Ki-won is recording 2.0%. Overall, 16.8% of the votes have been counted.
In the by-election for the mayor of Geumjeong-gu, Busan, People Power Party candidate Yoon Il-hyun is leading with 59.4%. Democratic Party candidate Kim Kyung-ji is trailing with 40.6%. Vote counting is 2.1% complete.
In the by-election for Ganghwa-gun, Incheon, People Power Party candidate Park Yong-chul is in first place with 55.2%. Following are Democratic Party candidate Han Yeon-hee with 39.0%, independent candidate Ahn Sang-soo with 4.9%, and independent candidate Kim Byung-yeon with 0.9%. The vote counting rate is 10.0%.
In the by-election for Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do, Democratic Party candidate Jo Sang-rae is leading with 56.4%. Party for National Innovation candidate Park Woong-du is in second place with 34.5%, independent candidate Lee Seong-ro is third with 5.9%, and People Power Party candidate Choi Bong-ui is recording 3.3%. The vote counting rate is 61.2%.
