On the afternoon of the 16th, the prosecution requested an 8-month prison sentence for Hong Nampyo, the mayor of Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam, who was indicted for violating the Public Official Election Act, during the appeal trial held at the Criminal Division 1 of the Changwon Branch of the Busan High Court.

Mayor Hong was prosecuted for conspiring with Mr. A, who was the head of the overall election countermeasures headquarters during last year's nationwide local elections, to promise a public office to Mr. B, who intended to run in the People Power Party's Changwon mayoral primary, urging him to join the campaign.

Mr. A was indicted for conspiring with Mayor Hong to propose a public office to Mr. B, who was planning to run as a preliminary candidate, urging him to join the campaign.

Mr. B, who reported the two, is also on trial for accepting the promise of a public office after hearing the proposal to join Mayor Hong's election campaign from Mr. A.

In the first trial, the court acquitted Mayor Hong, sentenced Mr. A to 6 months in prison, and sentenced Mr. B to 4 months in prison with a one-year probation.

In the appeal trial, the prosecution requested the court to sentence Mayor Hong to 8 months in prison, Mr. A to 8 months in prison, and Mr. B to 4 months in prison.
