Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) is taking proactive measures to solve the chronic illegal dumping problem.

Illegal dumping areas are often in dark alleys with few people. Although enforcement is carried out using 65 illegal dumping CCTVs, 265 Clean Keepers, 83 Logojectors, and 24 AI CCTVs, there are still gaps.

This year, the district reduced the number of illegal dumping management areas from 196 last year to 94 through the newly implemented six-day-a-week collection system and active illegal dumping enforcement. Furthermore, starting in October, 30 areas with high amounts of garbage and frequent illegal dumping will be designated as intensive management areas to create clean streets free of trash.

Specifically, ▲ CCTVs will be installed in intensive management areas ▲ a joint patrol team composed of a mobile unit, enforcement officers, and cleaning staff from the community service centers will operate daily ▲ an online cleaning sharing room involving responsible personnel from related organizations will be created to share real-time cleaning status.

Additionally, through joint public-private patrols, continuous monitoring, and campaigns, the district plans to work together with residents to eradicate illegal dumping.

Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “The illegal dumping problem is closely related to the daily lives of residents, so prompt and accurate handling is most important. Since clean streets and environments are the residents’ rightful entitlement, we will minimize inconvenience by intensively managing illegal dumping areas. We are making efforts in various ways to create clean streets. We ask all residents for active interest and cooperation in proper garbage disposal and the eradication of illegal dumping.”

In addition, the district is committed to urban cleanliness through spring cleaning campaigns, operation of cleanliness mobile units, Clean Day events, and expansion of illegal dumping enforcement equipment.
