Literature Day Guro District Mayor's Resignation 'Apology'... People Power Party Guro District Member Council Statement Released

People Power Party Guro-gu Party Members' Council to Issue Apology Statement on the Afternoon of the 16th

The People Power Party Guro-gu Party Members' Council announced on the 16th an apology regarding the resignation of Moon Heon-il, the Guro-gu District Mayor, related to his blank trust deposit.

On the same day, the council issued a statement titled "We sincerely and deeply apologize for the resignation of Moon Heon-il, Guro-gu District Mayor."

The council stated, "We deeply feel responsible and sincerely apologize to the residents for the fact that Moon Heon-il, the former district mayor entrusted with district administration by the people of Guro-gu, did not complete his term and resigned midway. All city and district council members belonging to the People Power Party Guro-gu Party Members' Council who nominated and elected former Mayor Moon share this responsibility."

They also expressed sincere regret over former Mayor Moon's failure to fulfill the obligation of a blank trust deposit under the Public Officials Ethics Act and for choosing to resign from office instead of making a blank trust deposit without consulting the party after the judiciary's decision.

They continued, "We apologize and feel deeply regretful for not meeting the expectations of many residents who earnestly wished to correct the stagnant and biased district administration of Guro-gu that lasted for 12 years."

"Although he resigned from the party yesterday, saying he would not burden the party, we believe that resignation does not exempt him from moral responsibility," they criticized.

The council also stated, "There is no excuse for a public official failing to keep promises made to the residents. The People Power Party Guro-gu Party Members' Council will work harder than ever with a heavy sense of responsibility to ensure that the district administration of Guro-gu proceeds without interruption."

They pledged, "We will actively cooperate and support the deputy district mayor acting as the authority and other district office officials so that they can faithfully carry out their duties without wavering. All People Power Party members of the Guro-gu Council, who share the responsibility of district administration alongside the district office, will fulfill their duties as the majority party with an even heavier sense of responsibility, not as the ruling party."

They added that they will ensure there is no gap in the promotion of Guro-gu's development policies, explaining that Guro has tremendous growth potential and that the turning point for Guro to develop as the center of the southwest area of Seoul was established over the past two years.

Furthermore, as a party that has led the growth and development of the Republic of Korea, the People Power Party will strive even harder for Guro's great leap forward. They concluded by sincerely apologizing once again to the residents for the district mayor's failure to keep promises and vowed to start anew with redoubled efforts.
