Miryang City Successfully Hosts Opening Ceremony of the 43rd Miryang Arts Festival

Various Exhibitions and Performances Held

Gyeongnam Miryang City announced on the 16th that the opening ceremony of the 43rd Miryang Arts Festival was held at 6 p.m. on the 15th in the exhibition hall of the Miryang Arirang Art Center.

The 43rd Miryang Arts Festival is hosted by Miryang City and the Miryang branch of the Korea Federation of Artistic & Cultural Organizations, and jointly organized by eight associations under the Miryang branch.

On the same day, the opening ceremony of the Miryang Photographers Association’s ‘38th Miryang National Photography Contest Winning Works Exhibition and 41st Members’ Exhibition’ was held. The exhibition will continue until the 20th.

This year’s Miryang Arts Festival, under the theme “Drawing the Scenery in My Heart,” will be held until the 31st at the Miryang Arirang Art Center, Miryang Arena, Miryang Cultural Center, and other venues, injecting cultural vitality into the region and providing citizens with opportunities to enjoy diverse cultural and artistic performances and works.

On the 13th, the Miryang Theater Association staged ‘Unshim,’ an audience participation performance, at Miryang Arena, and from the 22nd to the 27th, over 70 artworks in various fields such as crafts, Western painting, and Korean painting by members of the Miryang Art Association will be exhibited in the exhibition hall of the Miryang Arirang Art Center.

On the 26th at 9 a.m., the 16th Student Poetry Recitation Contest, hosted by the Miryang Writers Association, will be held in the main auditorium of the Miryang Cultural Center, and until the 31st, a poetry and painting exhibition by the Writers Association will be held in the Songnim area of Sammun-dong, allowing visitors to enjoy the fragrance of literature where nature and poetry permeate daily life.

At the large theater of the Miryang Arirang Art Center, a series of spectacular and diverse performances will be held, including △ the ‘Miryang 2024 K-Trot Festival’ by the Miryang Entertainers Association at 6:30 p.m. on the 19th △ the lively Korean traditional music performance ‘Eoullim’ by the Miryang Gugak Association at 7 p.m. on the 20th △ the ‘Miryang Choir Festival’ by the Miryang Music Association at 7 p.m. on the 25th △ and the ‘GOD+GAT 生’ performance by the Miryang Dance Association at 7 p.m. on the 27th, offering special enjoyment and emotion.

Mayor Ahn Byung-gu said, “Like the theme of this event, ‘Drawing the Scenery in My Heart,’ I hope this festival will blossom into refined cultural arts that embrace the pure emotions we see and experience in our daily lives,” adding, “We will actively support the creation of unique cultural and artistic content in Miryang so that local artists can freely engage in their creative activities.”
