The competition is open to all fields of art, and any Korean national who is actively engaged in artistic creation may apply through the recommendation of a university president, the head of an art-related organization, or a nominator appointed by the Dongseo Art Award Steering Committee.

Applications can be submitted via email until midnight on the 31st, and the results will be announced on the Changwon City website in November, with the award ceremony scheduled for December.

The Dongseo Art Award will honor one recipient for the Grand Prize (10 million KRW), one for the Creative Award (5 million KRW), and one for the Achievement Award (2 million KRW). The Grand Prize winner will also be given the opportunity to hold a solo exhibition the following year.

Park Dongjin, Director of Culture, Tourism and Sports, stated, "Through proactive administrative support from Changwon City and the promotional efforts of the Dongseo Art Award Steering Committee, we will enhance the prestige of the Dongseo Art Award and create more opportunities to introduce the late Song Insik to the public."

Cho Sungje, Chairperson of the Dongseo Art Award Steering Committee, said, "We will strive to honor the achievements of the late Song Insik and discover outstanding awardees to further elevate the prestige of the art award."

Meanwhile, the Dongseo Art Award, which was established in 1990 and is now in its 33rd year, was initiated when Song Insik of Dongseo Gallery donated 100 million KRW in January 1990 to recognize artists who have contributed to the development of local culture and arts. Since 2022, Changwon City has continued to present the award in honor of his legacy.
