Nation's First Yield Signal 'Pink Light' Operated... Recognized for Efforts to Support Pregnant Women

Busan Transportation Corporation has been awarded the Minister of Health and Welfare Award at the 19th Pregnant Women's Day in recognition of its efforts to promote a culture of consideration for pregnant women and to create a childbirth-friendly environment.

The Pregnant Women's Day commemorative event, hosted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and organized by the Korea Population, Health and Welfare Association, presents awards to individuals or organizations that have contributed to fostering a healthy childbirth and childcare environment and a culture of consideration for pregnant women.

The corporation has taken the lead in establishing Busan-style policies for pregnant women and spreading them to other organizations, thereby helping to entrench a culture of consideration for pregnant women.

In particular, Busan Transportation Corporation received high praise for being the first urban railway operator in the country to introduce the 'Pink Light' service in collaboration with Busan Metropolitan City in 2017, which notifies passengers of seats reserved for pregnant women, and for continuously upgrading the service, including launching the nation's first Pink Light mobile app in May this year to further enhance user convenience.

Additionally, the corporation is making ongoing efforts to foster a culture of consideration for pregnant women by regularly promoting related policies and campaigns to encourage citizens to voluntarily participate. From the 10th to the 31st of this month, an online event called 'Spread the Word about Pink Light,' linked to the Pink Light app, is also being held.

Lee Byungjin, President of Busan Transportation Corporation, stated, "I believe receiving the Minister of Health and Welfare Award reflects our corporation's ongoing efforts to establish a culture of consideration for pregnant women," and added, "We will do our utmost to create a transportation environment where all urban railway users, including pregnant women, can travel safely and conveniently."
