KAIST to Establish Asia Intellectual Property Community Research Center

KAIST announced on the 16th that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with K3I Co., Ltd. (hereinafter K3I) to establish the 'K3I-KAIST Asia IP Community (AIPC) Research Center.'

According to the agreement, both organizations plan to focus on developing 'AIP-Meta.' AIP-Meta is a type of virtual space based on metaverse and artificial intelligence technologies that can handle tasks such as intellectual property applications, litigation and arbitration, and transactions (IP Exchange) in the Asian region.


Additionally, through the 'Research on the Establishment Plan of AIPC Based on Metaverse and Artificial Intelligence,' they will build cooperative relationships with the European Patent Office (EPO), Unified Patent Court (UPC), World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), and intellectual property institutions of various countries, and continue research and development for AIP-Meta to lead the intellectual property ecosystem in Asia.


K3I is a company that has implemented a metaverse service platform by integrating digital twin city solutions and XR middleware solution technologies, and is regarded as a leading company in metaverse technology in Korea.


President Kwang-Hyung Lee said, “KAIST will collaborate with K3I to envision a future of innovation by cooperating with Asian countries on a new stage called the metaverse platform.”


Jae-Young Lee, CEO of K3I, stated, “Industry-academia cooperation with KAIST will serve as a stepping stone to lead collaboration with Asian countries by integrating advanced technologies and intellectual property systems.”
