Request to Promote Dongseoul Terminal Modernization Project... Gwangjin-gu Council Closes 278th Extraordinary Session

Approval of 18 Ordinances, 3 Consent Bills, and 1 Plan Proposal

The Gwangjin District Council (Chairperson Jeon Eun-hye) closed the 278th extraordinary session on the 15th after the 2nd plenary meeting, concluding a six-day schedule.


At the 1st plenary meeting on the 10th, the council resolved ▲the session and agenda schedule ▲the election of the minutes signing members, and proceeded with 5-minute free speeches by council members Kim Gang-san, Heo Eun, Go Sang-sun, and Jang Gil-cheon.


Council member Kim Gang-san expressed agreement on the necessity of installing priority parking spaces for national merit recipients and made additional proposals, while council member Heo Eun emphasized the need to establish a public postpartum care center in the region to overcome the low birthrate.


In the following 5-minute free speech, council member Go Sang-sun proposed policies for multicultural families, and council member Jang Gil-cheon urged the city administration to install and manage bollards at crosswalks within the district.

Subsequently, over two days on the 10th and 11th, the standing committees reviewed agenda items such as ordinances. On the 14th, they inspected the Gunja-dong government office, Guui 2-dong complex office, Gwangjang-dong multipurpose public complex facility, and the construction site of the new office building in Jayang 1 district. At the 2nd plenary meeting held on the 15th, the council approved a total of 22 agenda items, including 18 ordinances, 3 consent items, and 1 plan, followed by 5-minute free speeches by council members Seo Min-woo and Lee Dong-gil, concluding the 278th extraordinary session held over six days.


In the subsequent 5-minute free speeches, council member Seo Min-woo requested the executive branch to actively reflect residents' opinions regarding the utilization of the closed Hwayang Elementary School site in the region, and council member Lee Dong-gil hoped that the East Seoul Terminal modernization project would proceed smoothly through effective communication with local residents.


Chairperson Jeon Eun-hye stated, “I ask the relevant officials of the executive branch to thoroughly ensure that the matters raised by the council members during this extraordinary session are actively reflected when promoting projects for the welfare of the district residents.”


Meanwhile, the next session, the 279th 2nd regular session, is scheduled to be held for a total of 35 days from November 15 to December 19.
