"French Footballer Mbappe Accused of Sexual Assault in Sweden"...Mbappe Calls It "Fake News"

Swedish Local Media, "Mbappe Under Investigation by Authorities for Sexual Assault"
Mbappe: "Fake News... PSG Orchestrated It"

French football star Kylian Mbapp? is reportedly under local investigation in Sweden on charges of sexual assault.

On the 15th (local time), Le Monde cited Swedish media Aftonbladet and Expressen, reporting that Mbapp?, who recently visited Sweden, was accused by a woman of rape and sexual assault. Initially, the reports did not specify Mbapp?'s name, stating only that a "Real Madrid star is under investigation for rape after visiting Stockholm," but later Expressen revealed that the 25-year-old Mbapp? is the suspect.

According to the reports, Mbapp? visited Stockholm, Sweden, on the 10th with acquaintances, had a meal, then went to a nightclub before returning to the hotel. The woman claims that the incident occurred at the hotel in Stockholm where Mbapp? was staying between the night of the 10th and the early hours of the 11th. After the incident, the woman visited a hospital on the 11th to receive diagnosis for physical injuries and psychological damage caused by the sexual assault, and filed a complaint at the police station the following day, the 12th.

Aftonbladet published photos on its website showing police officers investigating in front of the hotel where Mbapp? and his party stayed. The local Swedish police have refused to disclose detailed information, but AFP reported that a prosecutor investigating the case confirmed that an investigation is underway regarding a crime reported in central Stockholm on the 10th.

However, on the afternoon of the 14th, Mbapp? posted on his X (formerly Twitter) account calling it "fake news" and claimed that his former club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), with whom he is in dispute, fabricated the rumors. A close associate of Mbapp? issued a statement to AFP saying, "These accusations are completely false and irresponsible, and spreading them is unacceptable," adding, "We will take all necessary legal actions to put an end to the destruction of Mbapp?'s image."

Mbapp?, who transferred to Spain's Real Madrid this summer, is currently in a dispute with PSG over unpaid wages totaling 55 million euros (81.2 billion KRW).

The Legal Committee of the French Professional Football League (LFP) accepted Mbapp?'s claim on the 12th of last month, ruling that PSG must pay the overdue wages.

PSG has appealed this decision, and the LFP's Appeals Committee is scheduled to review the case again on the afternoon of the 15th.
