Namyangju City Hosts Dinner for Invited Pakdok Workers... "Thank You for Your Dedication and Hard Work"

Namyangju City held a commemorative event on the 15th to mark the "1st Day of Korean Workers Dispatched to Germany" and is taking a commemorative photo.

Namyangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Joo Gwang-deok) held a commemorative event on the 15th to mark the '1st Day of Korean Workers Dispatched to Germany.'

This event was organized to honor the sacrifices and hard work of miners and nursing workers dispatched to Germany from the 1960s to the 1970s, and to pay tribute to their dedication that contributed to the economic development of Korea.

The event was attended by Hong Ji-seon, Deputy Mayor of Namyangju City, Son Byung-deok, Chairman of the (Corporation) Korean Workers Dispatched to Germany Welfare Foundation, and 45 Korean workers dispatched to Germany residing there and elsewhere.

The city held a luncheon meeting for the dispatched workers and took time to understand the culture and history of Namyangju by touring the Jeong Yak-yong historic site located in Joan-myeon.

One of the dispatched workers who participated in the event said, "Today's hospitality was a great comfort to the workers dispatched to Germany who miss their homeland," and added, "We are grateful to Namyangju City for inviting us and will not forget this moment."

Deputy Mayor Hong Ji-seon said, "Thanks to your dedication, the Republic of Korea was able to leap forward as an advanced country, and Namyangju has also grown from a population of 250,000 to a city of 740,000. The 1 million mega-city Namyangju, to be completed as Wangsuk New Town, will be the fruition of this," and added, "We hope you leave precious memories at the birthplace of Dasan Jeong Yak-yong, a representative tourist attraction of Namyangju City."
