Paju City Partners with Hyundai Motor and High-Tech Research Institute for Mini Hydrogen City Project

Three-Party Cooperation... Establishing a Facility Producing 500kg of Clean Hydrogen per Day

Paju City Partners with Hyundai Motor and High-Tech Research Institute for Mini Hydrogen City Project Paju City held a business agreement ceremony for the "Paju Mini Hydrogen City Development Project" on the 15th with Hyundai Motor Company and the High Technology Research Institute, followed by a commemorative photo.

On the 15th, Paju City in Gyeonggi Province held a business agreement ceremony for the 'Paju Mini Hydrogen City Development Project' together with Hyundai Motor Company and the Korea Institute of Advanced Technology.


This agreement marks the first step toward energy transition for carbon neutrality and sustainable development, aiming to establish hydrogen production facilities and develop hydrogen energy utilization models tailored to the characteristics of Paju City.


Attending the ceremony were key representatives from the partner organizations, including Mayor Kim Kyung-il, Ken Ramirez, Head of Global Commercial & Hydrogen Business Division at Hyundai Motor Company, and Kim Jin-gyun, Director of the Korea Institute of Advanced Technology.


Following the agreement, the city plans to collaborate in various areas such as ▲establishing a foundation for clean hydrogen production and supply ▲providing technical and financial support necessary for the mini hydrogen city development project ▲expanding hydrogen utilization infrastructure and fostering related industries.


Mayor Kim Kyung-il of Paju said, “With Hyundai Motor Company's expertise, the Korea Institute of Advanced Technology's outstanding technological capabilities, and Paju City's proactive administration working together, we expect Paju to leap forward as a representative hydrogen city in the northern Gyeonggi region.”


Meanwhile, Paju City was selected in June for the mini hydrogen city development public contest conducted by Gyeonggi Province and plans to invest a total of 12 billion KRW to build a facility capable of producing 500 kg of hydrogen per day in the Bongam-ri area of Paju-eup by March 2027.
