National Pukyong University Korean Independence Movement Research History Academic Seminar Held

Proceeding with the Theme '1920s South Manchuria Independence Army's Domestic Infiltration Operation'

The Patriotic Martyr Kang Geun-ho Academic Research Association (President Shin Myung-ho, Professor of History at Pukyong National University) will hold an academic seminar on October 18 at the Dongwon Jangbogogwan of Pukyong National University, with the theme "The 1920s Domestic Invasion Operations of the South Manchurian Independence Army."

This seminar was organized after the Patriotic Martyr Kang Geun-ho Academic Research Association was selected for the 2024 Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs academic conference support project. It is an academic seminar supported by the Busan Regional Veterans Office, with attendees expected to include Lee Nam-il, head of the Busan Regional Veterans Office, as well as the descendants of independence activists Kang Geun-ho and Oh Hang-seon.


The event will begin at 10 a.m. with an opening address by Professor Shin Myung-ho, president of the Patriotic Martyr Kang Geun-ho Academic Research Association, followed by congratulatory speeches from Lee Nam-il, head of the Busan Veterans Office, Won Young-sook, member of the Busan Haeundae District Council, and Seo Seong-bu, chairman of the Busan Nam District Council. The program will then proceed with keynote presentations and a comprehensive discussion.


In the keynote presentations, Professor Shin Myung-ho will deliver a keynote lecture titled "The 1920 Domestic Invasion Operations of the Shinheung Military Academy Assassination Unit." Following this, Professor Kim Ho-jin (Chungbuk National University) will present on "The Domestic Invasion and Activities of the Seoro Military Government Office in the 1920s," Director Shim Ok-joo (Korean Women’s Independence Movement Research Institute) will discuss "Women’s Anti-Japanese Struggles in the South Manchurian Region in the 1920s," and Researcher Kim Yong-jin (Independence Hall of Korea) will present on "The 1920s Domestic Infiltration Operations of the South Manchurian Independence Army’s Liberation Army Headquarters (1920?1922)."


Professor Lee Geun-woo (Pukyong National University) will present on "The 1920s Security System of the Anbyon and Tumen Rivers by the Japanese Governor-General of Korea," and Senior Researcher Kim Myung-jae (Patriotic Martyr Kang Geun-ho Academic Research Association) will discuss "The 1920 Domestic Invasion Operations of the Paldo Gang Special Dispatch Unit under the Korean Independence Corps."


Participants in the discussion will include Professor Han Bong-seok (Pukyong National University), Director Park Young-ha (Korean Women’s Independence Movement Research Institute), Research Professor Seo Kyung-soon (Pukyong National University), Director Hwang Seon-yeol (Institute of Humanities), Director Lee Min-won (Dong-A History Research Institute), and Senior Researcher Jang Kyung-ho (Kangwon National University).


Shin Myung-ho, president of the Patriotic Martyr Kang Geun-ho Academic Research Association, stated, "We expect this seminar to serve as a platform for academic exchange to discuss research on the anti-Japanese armed struggle in the South Manchurian region during the 1920s and to share research achievements."
