The Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education has decided the 2025 living wage at an hourly rate of 11,340 won, a 3.0% increase from the previous year (11,010 won).

According to the Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education on the 15th, the living wage is set differently from the minimum wage to enable workers to support their families and maintain a practical standard of living in areas such as education and culture. It was introduced through the enactment of the Living Wage Ordinance in May 2020.

The 2025 living wage by the Provincial Office of Education was calculated by comprehensively considering the expected consumer price inflation rate, labor cost increase rate, minimum wage increase rate, and financial status. This amount is 13% higher than the government’s 2025 minimum wage of 10,030 won per hour and applies to approximately 950 workers under the Jeonnam Superintendent of Education.

Superintendent Kim Dae-jung stated, “I hope this living wage decision will somewhat contribute to the stability of workers’ livelihoods.”
