Myeong Taegyun and Kim Jaewon Request, Conversation Revealed on SNS
Presidential Office Quickly Issues Explanation
Lee Junseok Responds to Presidential Office Explanation, "I Don't Know About Other Oppas"
On the 15th, Lee Jun-seok, a member of the Reform New Party, expressed his opinion regarding Myung Tae-kyun's release of a KakaoTalk chat room presumed to involve First Lady Kim Geon-hee, stating, "Oppa was immature throughout, from before joining the party until the election." On the morning of the 15th, Lee posted on his Facebook, saying, "Oppa always talked immaturely throughout the election period, so from the publicly available KakaoTalk messages, I cannot tell when Oppa caused any incidents." He added, "It is a well-known fact that Oppa was immature throughout, from before joining the party until the election."
On the same day, Myung, a key figure in the suspicion of First Lady Kim Geon-hee's interference in candidate selection, posted screenshots of KakaoTalk conversations with a person presumed to be the First Lady on social networking services (SNS), stating, "I am informing you at the strong request of Kim Jae-won." The messages sent by the person presumed to be the First Lady included phrases such as "Please forgive our Oppa who talks immaturely" and "That's how it is when you're ignorant." In the political sphere, there is an interpretation that "Oppa" in the context of the conversation refers to President Yoon Suk-yeol, and the messages also mention Lee Jun-seok's name. In one part, Myung said, "When I meet Jun-seok tomorrow, I will get an exact answer. I will contact you tomorrow." However, the screenshots did not show the exact date or time of the conversation. The First Lady also said, "I apologize. I am completely relying on Mr. Myung." Additionally, she sent a message saying, "Anyway, I assure you that Mr. Myung's insight is the most outstanding. He is the only one who solved it."
On this day, Mr. Myung, a key figure in the allegations of Kim Geon-hee's interference in candidate selection, posted a screenshot of a KakaoTalk conversation with a person presumed to be Mrs. Kim on social media, stating, "I am informing you at the strong request of Mr. Kim Jae-won." The messages sent by the person presumed to be Mrs. Kim included phrases such as "Please forgive our brother who speaks foolishly" and "That's how it is when you're ignorant." In response, the Presidential Office explained that the "Oppa" mentioned in the KakaoTalk messages released by Myung refers to her biological older brother. They also dismissed the messages as private conversations that took place before President Yoon joined the People Power Party. However, controversy has arisen since Myung had previously revealed that the First Lady calls the President "Oppa."
This lawmaker also appears to have assumed that the person referred to as "oppa" in the message is President Yoon Suk-yeol and mentioned the presidential election situation. On that day, while attending the National Assembly Science, Technology, Information and Broadcasting Committee (STIBC) audit, the lawmaker received news of Myung's revelation and immediately opened a laptop to post related content on social media. Lee Jun-seok also appears to have assumed that the "Oppa" referred to in the messages is President Yoon Suk-yeol and mentioned the presidential election situation. On that day, while attending the National Assembly's Science, Technology, Information and Broadcasting Committee (STIBC) audit, Lee learned of Myung's revelation and immediately opened his laptop to post related content on SNS. In subsequent posts on SNS, Lee said, "I do not know anyone else whom First Lady Kim Geon-hee calls 'Oppa,'" and added, "I have never met or talked with him. Of course, there is nothing to be forgiven."
