"Prosecution Must Investigate Mr. Myung and Send Him to Prison"
"Alarm Should Be Raised Over Political Broker's Fraudulent Acts"
As Myung Tae-gyun, a key figure in the allegations of Kim Geon-hee's interference in candidate selection, continues to make revelations, Kim Jae-won, a Supreme Council member of the People Power Party, raised his voice, saying, "He is blackmailing the public."
On the 15th, Kim appeared on MBC Radio's 'Kim Jong-bae's Focus' and said, "He claims that he has entered President Yoon's residence countless times and has done all sorts of things, so he should be able to secure the nomination for former lawmaker Kim Young-sun, right?" He pointed out, "This person was punished for fraud after receiving 30 million won and women's golf equipment in exchange for promising to promote a sixth-grade public official in Changwon City."
He added, "Due to the probation and restriction periods of the sentence, he is actually not qualified to be appointed as a public official," and criticized, "Yet he is claiming that he was offered a public office or a position in the transition team. If personnel verification is conducted, it will be immediately exposed, but the very act of saying 'the Yoon Seok-yeol government is not a vessel to hold me' is mocking the entire nation."
He said, "He keeps asserting his relationship with Kim Geon-hee or President Yoon Seok-yeol to avoid being arrested, suggesting that if he is detained, the president will resign," and added, "(Myung) is sending signals now because he doesn't want to go to prison, but since he will soon be behind bars, he is like a frightened dog barking wildly."
Kim emphasized the urgency of the prosecution's investigation into Myung. He said, "If he received money before or after under the pretext of helping with candidate selection, that constitutes a violation of the Political Funds Act," and added, "It has also been revealed that there was a money transaction of about 60 million to 100 million won with former lawmaker Kim Young-sun, so the prosecution should investigate quickly and send him to prison."
He stressed, "We need to sound the alarm on the fraudulent acts of political brokers," and said, "Even if there was no actual interference in candidate selection, implicit compensation under the pretext of interference or as a reward for interference would also apply, so if money transactions occurred, immediate punishment is necessary."
