Geochang Eco-Friendly Public Golf Course Name Contest
Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam Province, is soliciting new names for the eco-friendly public golf course directly managed by the county, Ecolian Geochang CC, until the 31st of this month.
The eco-friendly public golf course in Geochang, currently operated by the Korea Sports Promotion Foundation, will be directly managed by Geochang-gun starting January 1, 2025, following an early transfer agreement signed on August 13 between Geochang-gun and the Korea Sports Promotion Foundation.
Geochang-gun cannot use the existing name (Ecolian) due to copyright issues and is holding the naming contest to find a name that better fits the local characteristics and can be popularly used.
This naming contest is open to anyone without restrictions, and detailed information about the contest can be found on the Geochang-gun official website under Legislation/Announcements/Notices.
Geochang-gun plans to select three winners based on suitability, popularity, and originality of the submitted names: Grand Prize (500,000 KRW), Excellence Prize (300,000 KRW), and Encouragement Prize (200,000 KRW). The results will be announced in November on the Geochang-gun official website and through individual notifications.
County Governor Gu In-mo said, “We hope that fresh and popular names will be proposed for the eco-friendly public golf course that will be directly managed by Geochang-gun. We ask for your interest and affection for Geochang-gun’s excellent tourist resources and encourage many to participate in this naming contest.”
