Korail, Recruiting Agencies to Use 'Station Name Subnotation' for Metropolitan Subway

Korea Railroad Corporation (hereinafter Korail) announced on the 15th that it is recruiting institutions to use station name subtitles at 55 metropolitan subway stations until the 31st of this month.

Station name subtitles refer to the method of displaying the station name together with the name of major institutions in the station area to enhance the recognition of key institutions and convenience for users.

The target stations are 55 stations including 42 stations on Metropolitan Subway Line 1 (Gyeongbu Line, Gyeongin Line, Gyeongwon Line), 7 stations on Line 4 (Ansan Line), and 6 stations on the Gyeongui-Jungang Line.

Eligibility for application includes public institutions and public facilities located around the station, multi-use facilities such as universities and hospitals, and institutions judged not to harm public morals or cause social conflicts.

Korail plans to select one institution per target station through document screening evaluating accessibility, publicness, preference, and price, collecting opinions from local governments, and review by internal and external expert committees including the National Railroad Corporation and academic societies.

The selected station names will be displayed on entrance station nameplates and platform guide signs for 1 to 3 years starting from January next year.
