Uber Taxi, Domestic Lost Item Statistics Released for the First Time

The Most Forgotten Item in Uber Taxis Is 'Mobile Phone'... Followed by Wallet and Earphones

The most frequently lost item by users of the taxi-hailing platform Uber Taxi was found to be mobile phones.

On the 15th, Uber Taxi announced for the first time the domestic lost-and-found data by analyzing lost item data from last September to the previous month.

According to Uber Taxi, the most commonly lost item by passengers was mobile phones, followed by wallets and earphones. A significant number of users also lost entire bags.

Loss of belongings was also analyzed to occur most frequently on weekends. Sunday was the day with the highest number of incidents, followed by Saturday and Friday.

Additionally, the most frequently lost items between 11 PM and 1 AM were mobile phones, wallets, bags, and earphones in that order. From early morning between 4 AM and 6 AM, mobile phones, wallets, and bags remained the same, but glasses and sunglasses replaced earphones in the ranking.

Besides everyday items, unique belongings were also identified among the lost items. These included fish-shaped bread making kits, kimchi containers, sesame oil, electric blankets, idol light sticks, as well as distinctive items like snail figurines, walkie-talkies, and cucumbers.

Uber Taxi supports recovering lost items through the 'Find Lost Items' feature within the application. If the taxi driver is unavailable, passengers can leave a voice message indicating their preferred contact method and a description of the lost item.

An Uber Taxi representative said, "Even in the embarrassing moment of losing belongings, we are doing our best to ensure passengers can easily and quickly recover their valuable items with peace of mind," adding, "Uber Taxi supports various features within the app to provide convenient and safe service at every stage of the passenger journey."

Meanwhile, the global mobility platform Uber had previously released lost item data by country. The fact that everyday items such as mobile phones and wallets ranked high was generally similar.

There were many unique lost items by region: in the United States, items such as front wigs, breathalyzers, and police handcuffs were found. A framed autograph of pop star Taylor Swift was also reported lost but was successfully recovered. In Hong Kong, fashion items were particularly common among lost items, including skinny scarves, chokers, hair scrunchies (fabric hair ties), and retro items like sparkling necklaces and rings.
