Hanwha Group Begins Accepting Applications for 2025 Braille Calendar

Social Contribution Activities Continuing for 25 Years This Year

Hanwha Group announced on the 15th that it has started accepting applications ahead of the distribution of the '2025 Braille Calendar' created for the visually impaired.

The Hanwha Braille Calendar, initiated in accordance with Chairman Kim Seung-yeon's wish after reading an email from a visually impaired person seeking help in 2000, is Hanwha's representative social contribution activity that has continued for 25 years this year. Starting with the production of 5,000 copies in its first year, the quantity has gradually increased, and 40,000 copies of next year's calendar are planned to be distributed. The cumulative production volume reaches 960,000 copies, the largest scale in Korea.

The Hanwha Braille Calendar adds Braille to a regular calendar. It can be used together by both visually impaired and non-disabled people without distinction, contributing to mutual understanding and the creation of a culture without discrimination.

Additionally, to ensure usability for all visually impaired people regardless of the degree of visual impairment, the size and density of the calendar numbers have been enhanced, and lunar dates, solar terms, and anniversaries are separately indicated in Braille to improve convenience and usability. To improve readability and reflect the opinions of visually impaired people in the production process, the Braille calendar is produced annually in collaboration with the social enterprise specializing in Braille publishing and printing, ‘Doseochulpan Jeomja’.

Next year's calendar will feature 12 works introduced monthly through a special collaboration with the social enterprise ‘Otista,’ which supports talent rehabilitation for people with autism. The company explained that through the warm perspective of autistic designers, various aspects of Hanwha Group can be experienced.

Applications for the calendar are being accepted for about a month from the 14th of last month until the 10th of next month. Institutions and organizations related to the visually impaired can apply through the Hanwha Group website, and visually impaired individuals can apply by phone.
