High School Student Acting as Winner of 5 Billion Won Lottery
Rookie actress Kang Shin-i made a strong impression on viewers by appearing as high school student Seong Seo-yeon, who won a 5 billion won lottery, in the first episode of the OCN·OCN Movies2 drama "Suryungin" aired on the 13th.
In the drama, Seong Seo-yeon suffers pain and despair from her violent parents and half-siblings, but after winning the lottery, she dreams of a new life. However, she learns that minors cannot claim lottery winnings, so she deliberately approaches Hwang I-deun to receive the prize money. Her bright demeanor lasts only briefly, as she ultimately becomes bloodied due to domestic violence. The final scene of episode 1 was intense, raising curiosity about what fate awaits Seo-yeon.
Kang Shin portrayed the character’s inner turmoil caused by physical and mental abuse with a multi-dimensional performance. She realistically expressed loneliness and despair, leaving a strong impression. Her agency stated, "Kang Shin, who majored in vocal music, was selected early for the role after overcoming high competition in the drama’s audition with her solid vocal skills and distinctive acting. After being cast, she continuously reflected and practiced to fully embody the character."
Meanwhile, "Suryungin" is the sixth work of the CJ ENM drama project ‘O’PENing 2024’ and its final episode will be broadcast on the 20th at 10:40 PM on OCN and OCN Movies2.
