Professors Daron Acemoglu and Simon Johnson of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and James Robinson of the University of Chicago have been awarded this year's Nobel Prize in Economics.
The Nobel Committee of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences announced on the 14th (local time) that Professors Acemoglu, Johnson, and Robinson were selected as the recipients of the 2024 Nobel Prize in Economics. They were recognized for their research on the importance of social institutions in preventing the widening income gap between countries.
