The 'Coupang Advanced Logistics Center,' the largest in the Honam region, opened in Gwangju on the 14th. Coupang invested 200 billion KRW and is expected to create jobs by directly employing over 2,000 people, greatly contributing to job creation and revitalizing the local economy.

The 'Coupang Gwangju Advanced Logistics Center Completion Ceremony' was held on the morning of the same day at the Pyeongdong 3rd Industrial Complex in Gwangsan-gu, attended by Gwangju Mayor Kang Gi-jung, Coupang CEO Park Dae-jun, and Gwangsan-gu District Chief Park Byung-gyu, among others.

The Gwangju Advanced Logistics Center, with a total floor area of 168,132㎡ (approximately 50,000 pyeong), was built with an investment of 200 billion KRW and will serve as Coupang's logistics hub in the Honam region.

Coupang currently operates two logistics centers near the Gwangju Advanced Logistics Center, employing about 650 workers. The completion of the Gwangju Logistics Center is the fruit of investment attraction efforts aimed at making Gwangju a 'business-friendly city.' The city secured Coupang's investment agreement in 2020 through active investment attraction activities.

The city supports companies relocating or expanding by providing location subsidies of up to 30% of the sale price depending on the investment scale, and equipment subsidies of up to 16% of equipment investment exceeding 2 billion KRW. For investments over 50 billion KRW or companies employing more than 300 full-time workers, support of up to 10% of the total investment amount is provided. These improved investment attraction conditions are creating a business-friendly environment.

Park Dae-jun, CEO of Coupang, said, "Thanks to the efforts of Gwangju City and various related organizations, we were able to complete a logistics center that can contribute to revitalizing the local economy. We will act as a catalyst by prioritizing employment for Gwangju citizens to invigorate the local job market and support the expansion of sales channels and overseas exports for small and medium-sized businesses in the Honam region."

Mayor Kang Gi-jung stated, "Coupang, which has led a logistics revolution, will create local jobs through the Gwangju Advanced Logistics Center, a logistics hub in the Honam region, and work together with small business owners and partner companies to create a new life for citizens. Since it is combined with a distribution platform, I hope it will develop into a good company that benefits small and medium-sized businesses and brings convenience to citizens."
