Woo Dong-gi, Chairman of the Local Era Committee, is giving a lecture to Goyang City employees on the theme of 'Vision and Strategy for the Local Era' on the 14th.

Goyang Special City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) announced that on the 14th at 10 a.m., it held the October Staff Communication and Empathy Day by inviting Woo Dong-gi, Chairman of the Local Era Committee, at the Goyang City Arts Center.

Chairman Woo Dong-gi gave a lecture titled "Vision and Strategy for the Local Era," covering the realities of local areas, past governments' balanced development policies, vision and strategy for the local era, and key tasks to be promoted during the local era, presenting a vision for balanced regional development and realization of local autonomy.

Chairman Woo stated, "National strategies to lead the local era and the role of local autonomy are more important than anything else," and mentioned, "It is necessary to resolve regional imbalances and achieve autonomous development suited to each area's characteristics."

He especially emphasized the importance of proactive measures to address the crisis of local extinction and population outflow, and suggested development directions for Goyang Special City, receiving great responses from the attendees.

Meanwhile, Mayor Lee Dong-hwan of Goyang Special City shared in his greeting that on the 11th, Goyang City was designated as a Venture Business Promotion Zone by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups for the first time in northern Gyeonggi, expressing expectations that the creation of advanced industrial infrastructure such as the Goyang Free Economic Zone, Ilsan Techno Valley, and Broadcasting and Video Valley will also gain momentum.

He also mentioned autumn festivals held in Goyang City, such as Haengju is Art and the Goyang Lake Art Festival, saying, "These festivals have gained nationwide word-of-mouth as must-visit events, growing year by year," and added, "I hope they will grow into representative festivals of Korea attracting even more visitors in the future."

In addition, he expressed gratitude and encouraged the staff by announcing that Goyang was selected as an excellent local government in the 2024 first half local government proactive administration performance review hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.

He also expressed determination to attract a Gyeonggi-type science high school, urging the staff’s interest and efforts to ensure its establishment in the city, as all 1.08 million citizens are united in support.
