Police Investigate Producer Close to Perpetrator
The police are considering summoning singer Jessi for direct questioning in connection with an incident where a fan was assaulted after requesting a photo.
On the 14th, the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul announced that they are "considering summoning Jessi and others present at the scene one by one for questioning."
The police previously summoned a producer who was with the assailant, Mr. A, on the evening of the 11th as a suspect for questioning.
It has been confirmed that, in addition to the assailant Mr. A, Jessi, the producer, and two other companions present at the scene?a total of four people?have been registered as suspects after being accused by the victim of assault and other charges.
Earlier, on the 29th of last month, a minor fan approached Jessi in Apgujeong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, to request a photo but was assaulted by a man, Mr. A, who was near Jessi.
Jessi tried to stop the assault but then left the scene. When the police arrived at the scene, they found Jessi and her party nearby and asked about Mr. A’s whereabouts, but they reportedly said they did not know. The police are currently identifying Mr. A.
Following the controversy, Jessi posted on her social media on the 12th, stating, "While having a private gathering with acquaintances, a fan who is a victim requested a photo from me, but I politely declined twice because it was late at night. At that moment, someone nearby, whom I met for the first time that day, suddenly assaulted the fan."
She added, "Regardless of the circumstances, I deeply regret that my fan suffered an unexpected harm and feel a moral responsibility. I am making efforts to ensure that the perpetrator receives appropriate punishment."
