On the 14th, Pocheon City in Gyeonggi announced that the "2024 Hantangang Garden Festa," currently being held at the Hantangang Ecological Landscape Complex, will be extended until the 31st.
Since its opening last month on the 7th alongside the inauguration of the country's longest Y-shaped suspension bridge, the Hantangang Garden Festa has attracted over 200,000 visitors to date.
Spanning an area of 80,000 pyeong, the Hantangang Garden Festa offers various flower gardens that decorate the autumn landscape.
There are autumn flower gardens featuring cosmos, zinnia, and gaura, as well as themed gardens such as a European-style rose garden, a topiary garden, and a native silver grass maze garden along the Hantangang River. Renting an eco-friendly electric bicycle allows visitors to conveniently explore the vast gardens and fully enjoy the autumn season.
Additionally, from the Y-shaped suspension bridge?the longest in Korea and a finalist for the Structural Innovation category at the International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering (IABSE)?visitors can take in the autumn foliage of the Hantangang Gorge at a glance.
The Hantangang area, designated as a UNESCO Global Geopark, is expected to continue attracting many tourists during the autumn foliage season.
Baek Young-hyun, mayor of Pocheon, said, "We hope everyone enjoys autumn at the Garden Festa set against the backdrop of the UNESCO Global Geopark, Hantangang. Moving forward, we will develop Pocheon Hantangang into Korea’s top tourist destination where families, friends, and couples can all enjoy various festivals such as agricultural and livestock festivals and drone festivals."
