Enhancing Pocheon's Prestige... Successful Completion of the 22nd Pocheon Citizens' Day Event Baek Young-hyun, Mayor of Pocheon City, is delivering a greeting at the 22nd Pocheon Citizens' Day event held on the 12th under the theme "Pocheon's Future Opened Together with Citizens."

Pocheon City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Young-hyun) held the 22nd Pocheon Citizens' Day event on the 12th and 13th under the theme "Opening Pocheon's Future Together with Citizens."


On the 12th, as a prelude to Pocheon Citizens' Day, the 1st Pocheon Art Song Festival was held at the Banwol Art Hall Grand Theater. This event was the first art song festival ever held in Pocheon, attracting so many citizens that the Banwol Art Hall Grand Theater was filled to capacity. One attendee said, "It was a time deeply immersed in the charm of our art songs, perfect for enjoying Pocheon's beautiful autumn night."


On the 13th, starting with the ringing ceremony of the Citizen Bell at Cheongseong History Park, sports events for towns, townships, and neighborhoods were held at the Pocheon Sports Complex along with a food market and a Harmony Festival performance prepared by 14 resident autonomy centers of the towns and townships. Additionally, over 50 experience and exhibition booths were set up on the track inside the stadium, and this year, with special support from the 5th Corps, military-related experiences and military equipment exhibitions attracted citizens' attention.


As the pre-ceremony performances for the 22nd Pocheon Citizens' Day, the 5th Corps military band performed, the Ground Operations Command honor guard demonstrated, Pocheon-born local singer Kim Yong-guk performed, the 2nd Corps presented a Taekwondo performance, and the Pocheon Municipal Folk Arts Troupe performed fan dances, pungut (traditional Korean percussion performance) plus beokku dance. The highlight of the pre-ceremony performances was the Black Eagles air show, which captivated many citizens' eyes.

During the commemorative ceremony, the Pocheon Citizens' Charter was read by families with multiple children and multicultural families, and awards were presented to seven recipients in six categories of the Pocheon Citizen Grand Prize. Afterwards, unforgettable cultural performances were gifted to citizens by the Banwol Opera Troupe, Lee Byung-chan, Jung Soo-ra, Baek Ji-young, Enok, and Son Tae-jin.


At the end of the event, the new integrated city brand of Pocheon was announced, followed by the largest drone light show and fireworks display in northern Gyeonggi Province, showcasing Pocheon's new vision and future, leaving citizens deeply moved.


A citizen who participated in the event said, "The Art Song Festival, Black Eagles air show, and other events elevated Pocheon's dignity in ways we had never seen before. I am proud to be a citizen of Pocheon," adding, "It was a happy time where our citizens were the main characters."


Mayor Baek Young-hyun of Pocheon stated, "This year, our Pocheon created countless changes and opportunities that cannot be listed one by one. These changes and opportunities were even more meaningful because they were achieved not by a few individuals but by the hearts of the broad majority of citizens coming together," and added, "I and the public officials of Pocheon will steadfastly uphold the will of the citizens without hesitation and carry out what must be done with a sincere and unwavering attitude."
