Police Commissioner Jo Ji-hoon stated on the 14th that regarding the leak of the situation report prepared by the police and local government on the day of the random murder by Park Dae-sung in Suncheon, "We have identified the police officer who leaked the report and are investigating the circumstances."
At the regular press briefing that day, Commissioner Jo said, "We are investigating in various ways to see if there are other leakers," and added, "We plan to take strict disciplinary action."
The police believe that the report on the Park Dae-sung murder case, which occurred on the 26th of last month, was leaked on the day of the incident. The report contained not only information about Park Dae-sung but also personal information of the victim and an overview of the case that had not been disclosed to the media.
A police official explained, "The leaker holds the rank of police inspector and has admitted to the charges," adding, "There are mitigating circumstances."
