Paju City Successfully Concludes the 34th Yulgok Cultural Festival The 34th Yulgok Cultural Festival held on the 12th and 13th at the Paju Yi Yi Historic Site.

Gyeonggi Paju City announced on the 14th that the '34th Yulgok Cultural Festival,' held from the 12th to the 13th at the Paju Yi Yi Historic Site, concluded successfully with the attendance of over 2,500 people, including Mayor Kim Kyung-il of Paju City, Park Dae-sung, Chairman of the Paju City Council, and citizens.

This year's Yulgok Cultural Festival honored the virtues of the ancestors through memorial rites for Yulgok and Shin Saimdang, and featured various cultural performances such as fusion gugak (traditional Korean music) and historical musicals, traditional weddings of multicultural families, and a historical talk show with Choi Tae-sung.

In addition, various ongoing experience programs such as folk games and pressed flower art workshops were held, and pre-booked programs like Yullan experience and Yulgok Yi Yi historical tours were so popular that they were fully booked before the opening.

Notably, this year, the newly constructed shrine of Shin Saimdang became an opportunity to further enhance the cultural heritage value of Paju.

Mayor Kim Kyung-il of Paju City said, “I thank the citizens who showed interest and support for this Yulgok Cultural Festival, and we will continue to make efforts so that people can truly feel that Paju is the hometown of Yulgok.”
