Launch of Integrated Council... Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism "Permanent Cooperation System"
A council to promote the Southern Region Metropolitan Tourism Development Project will be launched.
On the 14th, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will hold the launching ceremony of the 'Southern Region Metropolitan Tourism Development Integrated Council' at the Small and Medium Business Corporation in Jinju, Gyeongnam. This organization brings together five metropolitan cities and provinces including Busan Metropolitan City, Ulsan Metropolitan City, Gyeongsangnam-do, Jeollanam-do, and Gwangju Metropolitan City, along with their affiliated tourism organizations. Going forward, it will establish a new tourism development system through regional connectivity.
Since 2000, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has been promoting metropolitan tourism development projects targeting two or more cities and provinces. It discovers regional tourism resources and links related projects. The Southern Region Metropolitan Tourism Development Project has been fully underway this year. It plans to create the 'Southern Region K-Tourism Leisure Belt' and promote 109 development projects and 33 promotion projects.
The Ministry expects the integrated council to become a driving force for effectively advancing collaborative projects in the southern region. Vice Minister Jang Mi-ran said, "It is meaningful that various stakeholders have come together to establish a permanent cooperative system to jointly resolve current issues," adding, "We will actively support the southern region to lead Korea's future tourism and grow into the center of metropolitan tourism."
