A collision occurred when a vehicle following tried to avoid a car stopped in the first lane of the highway to rescue a cat. The driver of the rear vehicle expressed frustration, saying, "The police say I am at fault for not paying attention to the front."

On the 11th, JTBC's 'Incident Commander' shared the story of Mr. A, who became the perpetrator after rear-ending a car stopped on the highway on the 7th. The released black box footage shows Mr. A driving normally within the speed limit in the first lane of the highway from Changwon, Gyeongnam to Gimhae.

Suddenly, the car in front changed lanes momentarily, and a passenger car stopped with its trunk open appeared in the first lane. Since there was a truck in the adjacent lane preventing a lane change, Mr. A collided with the stopped vehicle. Fortunately, Mr. A noticed driver Mr. B standing behind the stopped car quickly and hit as far to the right as possible, so no casualties occurred.

Mr. A, who lost consciousness due to the accident, later heard from the police that Mr. B stated he had stopped to open the trunk to get a bag to rescue a cat. Mr. A said regarding this, "It's absurd and ridiculous."

Police: "Under the Road Traffic Act, Mr. A is at fault for not paying attention to the front"

However, there was a bigger issue. Mr. A was designated as the perpetrator of the traffic accident. The police stated, "Although it was an unavoidable accident, under the Road Traffic Act, fault must be assigned to Mr. A for not paying attention to the front." Mr. A lamented, "I was not speeding and was attentive to the front, but I am unfairly labeled the perpetrator." He is also in a position to compensate 60 million KRW after colliding with a truck during the process of rear-ending Mr. B's vehicle. He added, "Mr. B did not file an insurance claim and is not responding to contact," explaining, "I am reporting this out of frustration."

Most netizens who saw the video sympathized with Mr. A's grievance, commenting, "Do the police really think this was an avoidable accident? Watch the video carefully," "Do you think a person is worth less than a cat?" "Isn't the person who stopped on the highway always at fault?" "I feel so unfair," "Laws that cause unfairness should be revised," "The road is not a parking lot. It's meant for driving," and so on.
