Gangseo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon) has created a handbook titled '2024 Gangseo-gu Childbirth and Childcare Support Guide' that organizes welfare benefits related to childbirth and childcare in one place.
The district gathered 80 pieces of childbirth and childcare information promoted by the district, Seoul city, and the government to make it easy for parenting couples to receive appropriate benefits for childbirth and childcare.
The booklet contains information on more than 80 support programs across nine categories based on the target recipients: ▲prospective and newlywed couples ▲pregnant women ▲childbirth families ▲newborns ▲infants and toddlers ▲families with multiple children ▲single-parent and adoptive families ▲multicultural and other families ▲women.
Key programs include pregnancy preparation support for men and women newlyweds, medical expense support and housekeeping care services for pregnant women, and the First Meeting Voucher for childbirth families. It also provides guidance on various allowances and services for raising infants and toddlers.
Additionally, it includes various benefits for families with multiple children, support for single-parent and multicultural families, and services for women's safety. It also contains information on various local facilities such as daycare centers, toy libraries, comprehensive childcare support centers, and Seoul-style kids cafes within the district.
The produced guidebook will be available at health centers, community service centers in each neighborhood, and comprehensive childcare support centers, which are frequently visited by pregnant women or parents with children. In particular, it has been made into an e-book so that anyone can conveniently access it on the Gangseo-gu Office website.
The district expects that the guidebook, which organizes childbirth and childcare projects in one place, will become a highly useful childcare manual not only for prospective couples but also for all residents with children.
Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon said, “To address the low birthrate issue, we created this guidebook containing all the necessary information so that no one misses out on the various benefits promoted by the district,” adding, “Since it can also be checked on the district office website, we hope all residents fully enjoy the welfare benefits.”
