DH Firstier I-Park Entry
First Presidential Award in Urban Renewal Project Area
Hyundai Engineering & Construction announced on the 13th that it received the Presidential Award at the 14th Korea Landscape Awards ceremony.
The Korea Landscape Awards are jointly hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Environmental Landscape Development Foundation. Hyundai Engineering & Construction submitted the D.H. Firstier I-Park in the private and public sectors and became the first to receive the Presidential Award in an urban renewal project.
The landscaping of the complex designed by Hyundai Engineering & Construction was evaluated as presenting a new direction for landscaping design in multi-family housing in terms of restraint and balance. The main reasons for the award were known to be precise complex analysis, appropriateness of emptiness and fullness, continuous planting techniques for temporal changes and spatial transitions, and long-term durability.
By creating a 65,000㎡ urban forest to attempt carbon zero emissions and planting over 130 species of trees and more than 140 species of herbaceous plants to secure botanical garden-level species diversity, the project received high evaluations in the public interest category.
In particular, the △Natural Tea House and △D.H. Garden within the complex simultaneously won awards at the 2024 German Red Dot Award, marking the first time two works from a single complex in Korea received awards, and were also selected among the World Best 5 at the American Architizer A+ Awards.
Hyundai Engineering & Construction’s design competitiveness is standing out not only in the landscaping field but also domestically and internationally. Last month, Hyundai Engineering & Construction achieved a six-crown victory for the first time among Korean construction companies at ‘IDEA 2024’ with six works including the D.H. Gallery’s D.H. All Life Care House.
‘IDEA’ is an international design award hosted by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) since 1980, and is considered one of the world’s top three design awards along with Germany’s ‘iF Design Award’ and ‘Red Dot Award.’ It comprehensively evaluates design innovation, user benefits, social responsibility, and selects the best design products annually.
A Hyundai Engineering & Construction official stated, “Not only in the landscaping field, which received the Presidential Award this time, but also in various fields such as architecture and interior design, we have been recognized globally,” and added, “We will strive to provide the best residential environment to our customers based on Hyundai Engineering & Construction’s high-level design competitiveness and excellent technical skills.”
