Meeting Choi Tae-won and Noh So-young at the Second Daughter's Wedding... First Time Since Divorce

Arriving 2 Hours Earlier Than the Main Ceremony, Expected to Greet Guests

Choi Tae-won, chairman of SK Group, and Noh So-young, director of Art Center Nabi, will meet for the first time since their divorce at the wedding of their second daughter on the 13th.

According to Yonhap News Agency, on the 13th, Chairman Choi and Director Noh are expected to attend the wedding of Min-jeong at the Vista Hall of the Grand Walkerhill Hotel in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, and sit together at the main table.

The wedding ceremony of Min-jeong is scheduled for 1 p.m. Chairman Choi and Director Noh are known to arrive at the venue about two hours earlier than the ceremony to greet the guests. It is reported that this will be the first time the two meet since the appellate court ruling in May.

Earlier, the Family Division 2 of the Seoul High Court ruled in May in the divorce lawsuit between Chairman Choi and Director Noh that "the plaintiff (Chairman Choi) must pay the defendant (Director Noh) 2 billion KRW in alimony and 1.3808 trillion KRW in property division."

Chairman Choi has filed an appeal against the property division ruling of the appellate court, and the Supreme Court is currently reviewing whether to hear the case. However, legal circles believe that since neither party appealed the divorce ruling after the appellate court decision, the divorce is considered finalized.

Most of the family relatives, including Chief Officer Choi Yoon-jung, Manager Choi In-geun, Chairman Choi’s younger brother Choi Jae-won, cousin Choi Si-won, former chairman of SK Networks, and Choi Chang-won, chairman of the SK Supex Council, are expected to attend the wedding.

In addition, about 500 political and business figures are expected to attend, including major business leaders such as Lee Jae-yong, chairman of Samsung Electronics; Chung Eui-sun, chairman of Hyundai Motor Group; Koo Kwang-mo, chairman of LG Group; and Shin Dong-bin, chairman of Lotte Group.

Meanwhile, Min-jeong, who is getting married on this day, attracted attention for taking a different path from other chaebol children by voluntarily enlisting in the military and founding a startup. She is tying the knot with Kevin Hwang (34), a Chinese-American, whom she met as neighbors in Washington D.C., USA. They are known to have grown closer by sharing their military service experiences. The groom-to-be served as a U.S. military soldier stationed in Korea for about nine months from October 2020, which further deepened their relationship.
