This visit was organized to promote the excellent infrastructure and appeal of Busan's medical tourism, establish a system for friendly cooperation and medical technology exchange, and revitalize the attraction of medical tourists.

On October 7, to create opportunities for exchanges in various fields including medical tourism, the delegation visited the Cabinet Secretariat of Mongolia, discussed ways to expand exchanges in the tourism sector, and agreed to strengthen friendly cooperation.

Park Geunrok, Director of Tourism and MICE at Busan City, met with Nyamosor Otseral, Minister of the Cabinet Secretariat of Mongolia, at the Mongolian Government Building in Ulaanbaatar. Park proposed a pilot project to allow Mongolian public officials to receive health check-ups at Busan medical institutions, and both sides agreed to pursue mutual cooperation through future working-level consultations.

On October 8, the city, together with Dong-A University Hospital, opened a 'Telemedicine Center' between medical institutions in Busan and Mongolia. Through this, Busan plans to promote its medical technology and strengthen pre-consultation, treatment, and post-management for Mongolian patients.

Since 2015, the city has supported the opening of telemedicine centers to strengthen pre- and post-management for foreign patients. As part of this project, Dong-A University Hospital and the Third National Hospital of Mongolia opened a telemedicine center.

In addition, over the two days, the city and the Busan Economic Promotion Agency held a medical tourism business consultation meeting to boost the attraction of medical tourists to Busan, featuring a Busan tourism photo zone, local media interviews, and events to strengthen exchanges.

At the business consultation meeting, six Busan organizations and eighteen Mongolian medical tourism businesses discussed ways to vitalize the exchange of Busan's medical tourism products and medical technology, achieving a total of 51 consultations.

Furthermore, ongoing local marketing efforts in Mongolia have led to active private exchanges, resulting in six business agreements being signed between Busan and Mongolian medical tourism industry stakeholders.

Last year, the number of Mongolian patients visiting Korea for medical tourism surged to 22,000, a 123% increase compared to 2019 before COVID-19. K-medical technology from Korea is gaining recognition for its excellence in Mongolia.

Park Geunrok, Director of Tourism and MICE at Busan City, said, "I felt the high level of interest in Busan while in Mongolia. We plan to strengthen our competitiveness in attracting medical tourists through follow-up support and medical technology exchanges linked to this event. As 2026 marks the 10th anniversary of the Busan-Ulaanbaatar friendship and cooperation, we will continue to create opportunities for expanding exchanges in various fields, not just medical tourism."
