President Yoon Suk-yeol said on the 12th, "I was pleased to meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the East Asia Summit (EAS)" and added, "I look forward to seeing him again to strengthen our special strategic partnership."


President Yoon made this response to Prime Minister Modi's message on X (formerly Twitter) the previous day through social media.


Earlier, Prime Minister Modi said, "I was glad to meet President Yoon at the side event of the East Asia Summit."


At the EAS held in Laos on the 11th (local time), President Yoon stated in his keynote speech, "For a free, peaceful, and prosperous Indo-Pacific, North Korea's denuclearization must be achieved above all."


The EAS is a high-level strategic forum involving countries from the Indo-Pacific region, with 18 participating nations including South Korea, the United States, Japan, China, Russia, and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) member states.
