Asian Table Tennis Championships Mixed Doubles Semifinal
North's Ri Jeongsik and Kim Geumyoung Lose 2-3 After Comeback
2024 Paris Olympic mixed doubles bronze medalists Lim Jong-hoon (Korea Exchange) and Shin Yu-bin (Korean Air) were defeated by the Paris Olympic silver medal team from North Korea, Ri Jong-sik and Kim Geum-young, in the semifinals of the Asian Table Tennis Championships.
The Lim Jong-hoon-Shin Yu-bin pair lost 2-3 to Ri Jong-sik-Kim Geum-young in the mixed doubles semifinals of the 27th Asian Table Tennis Championships held on the 12th (Korean time) in Astana, Kazakhstan, securing the bronze medal.
Lim Jong-hoon and Shin Yu-bin took the first two sets early in the match with strong attacks. However, they failed to properly respond to Ri Jong-sik's power and Kim Geum-young's unconventional spins, losing three consecutive sets and missing the chance to advance to the finals.
The Lim Jong-hoon-Shin Yu-bin pair won bronze medals for the second consecutive year at the Asian Championships. Lim Jong-hoon and Shin Yu-bin have reached the round of 32 in the singles events. Lim Jong-hoon will also challenge for a medal in men's doubles with Ahn Jae-hyun (Korea Exchange), while Shin Yu-bin will compete for a medal in women's doubles with Jeon Ji-hee (Mirae Asset Securities).
