Various Korean Medicine Experiences Held at Seoul Korean Medicine Promotion Center and Yakryeong Jungang-ro Area
Regular General Meeting of the 'Korean Medicine Industry Win-Win Development Council' for Revitalizing the Korean Medicine Industry Also Held
On the 11th, Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Ilhyung Lee) Seoul Korean Medicine Promotion Center and the area around Yakryeong Jungang-ro were bustling with residents visiting the ‘30th Seoul Yakryeongsi Boje-won Korean Medicine Culture Festival.’
This festival, organized to widely promote the historical value of Seoul Yakryeongsi and the excellence of Korean medicine, began with the ‘Boje-won Parade’ and the ‘Boje-won Ancestral Rite Ceremony.’
At the yard of the Seoul Korean Medicine Promotion Center, a program where participants made and shared bibimbap using Korean medicine ingredients attracted enthusiastic interest from residents. Mayor Ilhyung Lee of Dongdaemun-gu, along with heads of local governments specializing in the Korean medicine industry and related officials, presented a ‘Korean Medicine Wild Vegetable Bibimbap Performance’ mixing rice and various ingredients.
Also, the ‘Korean Medicine Industry Win-Win Development Council’ held its second half regular general meeting. This council was founded in April by five local governments?Dongdaemun-gu, Jecheon in Chungbuk, Sancheong in Gyeongnam, Jung-gu in Daegu, and Yeongcheon in Gyeongbuk?who united their intentions for the revival of the Korean medicine industry.
Based on the agenda derived from the inaugural general meeting in the first half of the year, the council actively exchanges and cooperates during each local government’s Korean medicine festivals. Additionally, they are exploring ways to cooperate for mutual growth, such as developing sales channels for Korean medicine products through joint sales booths.
The main agenda of the second half general meeting included payment of contributions and matters related to the registration of herbal medicine in the Food Code. In particular, they focused on ways to popularize Korean medicine products through the registration of herbal medicine in the Food Code.
After the official opening ceremony at 2 p.m., congratulatory performances by singer ‘Park Seojin’ and others followed, providing visitors with an enjoyable time.
Moreover, various programs to experience Korean medicine culture were prepared around the Yakryeongsi area, including making Korean medicine cosmetics and perfumes, making Korean medicine scented pouches, and Yakryeong Market alley tours.
Mayor Ilhyung Lee of Dongdaemun-gu said, “I hope that the excellence of Korean medicine will be recognized so that more people visit Seoul Yakryeongsi,” and added, “We will revive the declining Korean medicine industry through cooperation among local governments specializing in Korean medicine.”
