Kim Jae-bong, the chief director of Gwangju Shinsegae Eye Clinic, has achieved 5,000 cases of ICL surgery (Implantable Contact Lens).
Since starting the region's first ICL surgery in 2002, Director Kim was selected as the 'Best ICL Center' for five consecutive years up to 2024, and reached this milestone in October.
Director Kim is known as the only authority in the region capable of performing seven types of lens implantation surgeries, including ICL, Artiflex, Artisan, and Artiflex. In particular, he holds the highest number of ICL lens implantation surgeries in the Honam area and received a certification plaque for achieving 5,000 cases from the developer, STARR Surgical in the United States.
ICL lens implantation surgery is a specially designed lens used to correct vision for myopic patients. It is an aqueous humor-filled artificial lens inserted in front of the natural lens inside the eye, preserving the cornea and natural lens while correcting vision.
Kim Jae-bong, chief director of Gwangju Shinsegae Eye Clinic, said, “If you want to correct your vision and recover quickly through implantable lens surgery, it is advisable to choose a vision correction surgery suited to your eyes based on thorough and systematic examinations rather than focusing on surgery costs or promotional events.”
