The reality food variety show “Imonejip Season 1: The City of Elegance, Gwangju Edition,” which explores authentic local hidden gem restaurants known as 'Nopo' (long-established stores passed down through generations) in our neighborhood alleys, will be released on the domestic OTT platform Watcha on the 11th.

“Imonejip” is a life food road trip where renowned supporting actor Jo Jae-yoon visits hidden Nopo spots throughout the alleys, sharing a glass of soju and stories with special guest actors Han Chae-ah and idol singer-actor Kim Jong-hyun each episode.

The show offers enjoyment and emotion through the unchanged yet dramatic hand flavors and storytelling of the Nopo aunties, as well as the life stories of the regular customers who are neighbors.

Season 1, which airs on Watcha starting the 11th, consists of six episodes filmed at Nopo locations hidden throughout Gwangju’s Yangdong Market, Songjeong Station Market, and various alleys. Special guests actor Han Chae-ah and Kim Jong-hyun, a member of the idol group NU’EST, join to add more fun to the program.

Following Watcha, the show is set to air in the Americas through the global OTT platform ODK. This variety show presents an opportunity to showcase the true food and lives of ordinary Koreans, highlighting another role of K-FOOD.

The production was supported by the 2023 Gwangju Information & Culture Industry Promotion Agency’s OTT platform content production support project.

Kim Hyun-soo, CEO of Tina Entertainment, which produced “Imonejip,” said, “I wanted to show local authentic restaurants and the unique ‘jeong’ (affection) of K-food that can only be felt in Korea. Also, I wanted to sincerely portray our life stories of filling the hardships of life with a bowl of gukbap, relieving the day’s fatigue with a glass of Makgeolli, and preparing for tomorrow.”

“Imonejip” will be produced as a seasonal series, traveling to find hidden Nopo and aunties across the country.
