A Hotel with a "Clear View of the Hangang"... But the Bathroom and Bedroom Are Also Fully Visible? Seoul Yongsan-gu Hangang Bridge View Hotel 'Sky Suite' [Source=Yonhap News]

The hotel 'Sky Suite' has gained popularity as a hotel with a view of the Han River, but complaints have been raised that guests can be seen from outside.

According to Seoul City on the 11th, a complaint was received by the Future Han River Headquarters Operations Division requesting "measures to prevent the visibility of users inside the Sky Suite hotel overlooking Hangang Bridge." The Sky Suite, where the complaint was made, is located above Hangang Bridge in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, and is a lodging facility converted from the Jiknyeo Cafe. It is known that Seoul City planned and produced the space together with Airbnb.

The room is 144.13㎡ (approximately 44 pyeong) in size and consists of a bedroom, living room, bathroom, and kitchenette, accommodating up to four people. A large window was installed on the southwest side of the bedroom to allow guests to enjoy a panoramic view of the Han River stretching from Nodeul Island to Yeouido. The ceiling is also finished with glass, allowing guests to look up at the city nightscape and sky. A tiled bathtub overlooking the Han River was installed in the bathroom next to the bed. The usage fee ranges from a minimum of 345,000 KRW to a maximum of 500,000 KRW. It became very popular, with all reservations for three months fully booked immediately after its opening in July.

However, guests reported inconveniences such as "there are places where the interior can be seen from outside" and "the view is excellent, but the inside is fully visible from outside." In particular, the bathroom has the drawback that it can be seen from outside unless blinds are drawn. The Operations Division expressed regret over the complaint stating, "We apologize that such a case occurred at a facility operated by the city on a private consignment basis," and added, "We will take caution through the operating company to ensure that hotel users do not cause discomfort to citizens with similar cases, and we will also consider attaching translucent sheets to the glass."
