The Gwangju Metropolitan Waterworks Headquarters announced on the 11th that it will carry out leak repair work on the water transmission pipeline on the entry road toward Suncheon at Sanwol IC on the Honam Expressway for eight days until the 18th. The construction site is located in the highway safety zone and shoulder area, so vehicle traffic will not be affected, but careful driving is required.

This construction follows the discovery of a leak by the Korea Expressway Corporation on the 9th, which was reported to the Gwangju Waterworks Headquarters. The leak point is located 7 meters below the ground on the entry road toward Suncheon at Sanwol IC, on the transmission pipeline of the Bongsan reservoir system, which supplies tap water to Suwan District, Cheomdan 1 and 2 Districts, and the Sinchang-dong area. The Waterworks Headquarters plans to complete the leak repair by the 12th and restore the road damaged by the leak to its original condition by the 18th.

Additionally, until the construction is completed, traffic and robot signal personnel, as well as guide signs, will be continuously deployed day and night to prevent traffic inconvenience and accidents caused by the construction.

Kim Il-yong, head of the Gwangju Waterworks Headquarters, stated, “There will be no water outage as the Waterworks Headquarters will promptly switch the water system,” and added, “We will carry out the repair work quickly and do our best to prevent future leak accidents.”
