Around 40 People Participate in Collecting Household Waste Including Waste Plastics
Busan Port Authority (BPA, President Kang Junseok) conducted a coastal cleanup activity on June 11 in the area of Cheonseong Port, Gadeokdo, Gangseo-gu, Busan.
On this day, about 40 participants, including BPA employees and representatives from the Busan New Port terminal operators, collected various types of household waste such as discarded plastic and styrofoam left on the beach near Cheonseong Port.
Since 2022, Busan Port Authority has been carrying out its own coastal cleanup activities annually in the Cheonseong Port area, contributing to the improvement of the local environment. Last May, a coastal cleanup was also held at Cheonseong Port to commemorate Ocean Day.
Cheonseong Port is a waterfront area equipped with amenities such as an auto camping site and restrooms, and generates a significant amount of household waste left behind by tourists and anglers who come to enjoy camping.
This time, in addition to BPA employees, terminal operators from Busan New Port Piers 1 to 7 also participated in the cleanup, making the event even more meaningful. The sacks needed for the cleanup were provided by the Gadeokdodong Administrative Welfare Center in Busan.
Lee Sangkwon, Head of Construction Division at BPA, said, "In addition to institutional efforts to create a sustainable Busan Port, Busan Port Authority will continue to work together with terminal operators and others to carry out coastal cleanup activities, striving to achieve mutual growth with the local community and to build a cleaner Busan Port."
