Dong-Eui University of Science and Technology (President Kim Youngdo) announced on the 11th that students from the Department of Electric Vehicles (Head of Department Kang Dongkwon) recently won multiple awards at the 15th National Automobile Skills Competition.
The Korea Association of Automotive Technicians held the 15th National Automobile Skills Competition over two days from September 28 to 29 at the Seoyoung University Paju Campus.
At this competition, Park Juhyuk, a sophomore in the Department of Electric Vehicles at Dong-Eui University of Science and Technology, won the Bronze Prize in the Car Body Repair category, while Lee Jinhyun and Lee Gun received Encouragement Awards. In addition, Moon Hoseong, a junior in the Department of Automotive Engineering, won the Bronze Prize in the Automobile Maintenance category, and Cha Youngjae, a sophomore, received the Encouragement Award, resulting in all participants winning awards.
Notably, in the general division of this competition, a significant number of active-duty soldiers from the 2nd Armored Brigade participated and won awards, drawing attention to the fact that students learning vehicle maintenance also won prizes in the general division and other categories.
Moon Hoseong and Park Juhyuk, who received Bronze Prizes, said, "It was tough preparing for both the University Student Homemade Car Competition and the Automobile Skills Competition since summer vacation, but winning the awards made it an even more valuable experience. Thanks to the strong guidance of our advisor and the systematic practical training at the university's designated practical test center for industrial engineer exams, we were able to achieve great results," they shared.
Professor Lee Jongho, advisor of the Department of Electric Vehicles, said, "Every year, three students are employed at Hyundai and Kia Motors service centers. I believe this is due to strengthening practical skills through competition awards and obtaining certifications. I am grateful to the students who prepared outside of class time and remained dedicated to their studies. We will continue to solidify our position as the top automotive specialty department in the southeastern region."
The Department of Electric Vehicles at Dong-Eui University of Science and Technology, established in 1995, has trained over 5,000 professionals in the automotive field to date and is carrying out various talent development projects such as the Ministry of Employment and Labor's 'Work-Study Dual System for Enrolled Students,' 'Cheonghaejin University Project,' and Busan City's 'BB21+ Eco-Friendly Automotive Talent Development Project.'
