Maximizing Performance and Efficiency
On the 10th (local time), Intel announced the launch of its first and best artificial intelligence (AI) desktop processor series, the 'Core Ultra 200S'.
This product lineup includes five processors equipped with up to 8 P-cores and 16 E-cores. Intel stated that this series offers up to 14% improved multithreaded performance compared to the previous generation.
This processor is Intel's first enthusiast desktop processor equipped with a Neural Processing Unit (NPU), providing performance optimized for AI tasks. Intel explained that this allows for reduced power consumption and maximized performance during gaming and content creation. It reduces power consumption by up to 58% in everyday applications and cuts system power by up to 165W during gaming.
Intel also added that it boasts up to 50% faster performance compared to competitors in AI-based creative applications.
Additionally, the Intel Core Ultra 200S series enhances scalability and connectivity by supporting improved overclocking features, next-generation PCIe 5.0, Thunderbolt 4, and Wi-Fi 6E. Overclocking refers to forcibly setting the speed of processing units such as CPUs or GPUs higher than the default values set by the manufacturer. This can increase performance but may also raise heat generation and power consumption, potentially affecting hardware stability.
It supports Double Data Rate 5 (DDR5) memory up to 48GB per server memory module (DIMM), and up to 4 DIMMs can be used, allowing memory expansion up to a total of 192GB (48GB x 4).
Robert Hallock, Vice President of AI and Technology Marketing at Intel Client Computing Group, said, "The new processor delivers a perfect AI PC experience with both efficiency and performance."
This processor will be available for purchase online and in stores starting from the 24th.
