Goyang Special City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) offers many pleasant walking paths. There are 14 courses available to explore Goyang City according to your preferences and circumstances, and each alleyway holds its own story, making the stroll enjoyable. As the perfect season for walking arrives, we introduce the paths in Goyang that you can easily take a light trip on in your daily life.
Travel with commentary every Wednesday and Saturday... ‘Walking the 14 Goyang Nuri-gil Courses’
The Goyang Nuri-gil stretches a total of 115.53 km from Course 1, Bukhansan Nuri-gil, to Course 14, Baram Nuri-gil. These themed paths connect Goyang’s mountains, fields, rivers, lakes, landmarks, and cultural assets, mostly along flat or gently hilly terrain, making it easy to walk without much burden.
The city operates the ‘Walking the 14 Goyang Nuri-gil Courses with Citizens’ program in the second half of the year, following the first half. The program runs 10 times every Wednesday and Saturday from the 16th of this month to November 16. Each time, a guide accompanies participants to provide course directions and explain the local history, culture, and ecology.
Anyone interested in walking the Goyang Nuri-gil can participate. Registration is available on the Goyang Nuri-gil website by selecting ‘Walking Nuri-gil Together’ or ‘Walking with Citizens’ and choosing the desired date.
Signboards and direction markers are installed throughout the Goyang Nuri-gil, so even first-time walkers can navigate without difficulty. Those who complete all 14 courses receive a certificate of completion, and by adding the KakaoTalk channel ‘Goyang Nuri-gil’ as a friend, participants can receive route guidance services or inquire about any questions.
Siksa-dong Vintage Street, Goyang-dong Nobit Village Road... Choose Your Alley Tour
Throughout Goyang City, there are alleyways each with unique charm. In 2021, the city enacted the ‘Ordinance on the Creation and Support of Goyang City Tourism Specialized Streets,’ and in 2022, through a public contest, designated the following as tourism specialized streets: ▲ Bamridan-gil Dessert & Cafe Street ▲ Siksa-dong Vintage Street ▲ Seongsagol Restaurant Theme Street.
Bamridan Bonnet-gil in Ilsandong-gu boasts an exotic charm with antique shops and workshops gathered together, while Siksa-dong Vintage Street is home to the largest concentration of vintage and secondhand goods stores in Korea, making treasure hunting there quite fun. Additionally, Seongsagol Restaurant Theme Street features clustered restaurants and cafes, making it a nice stop on a travel itinerary.
Meanwhile, Nobit Village Road in Goyang-dong, Deogyang-gu, is a special alley where the Byeokjegwan site, where Qing Dynasty envoys stayed, and Goyang Hyanggyo Confucian school are well preserved. Participating in the Nobit Village Road alley tour with a local village guide offers a rewarding experience. Also, the Goyang Samsong Graffiti Art Alley located in the shopping district extending from Samsong Station captivates visitors with its interesting murals. By participating in games such as graffiti photography and roulette spinning, visitors can receive gifts like Samsong beer or branded cups, which are local specialty products.
Notably, this year Siksa-dong Vintage Street was selected as a new site for the Gyeonggi-do Hidden Tourism Theme Alley Development Project. Following Goyang-dong Nobit Village Road in 2021, Bamridan Bonnet-gil in Jeongbalsan-dong in 2022, and Samsong Graffiti Art Alley in 2023, the city has been selected for four consecutive years, making it home to the largest number of ‘Gyeonggi Tourism Theme Alleys.’
