Strengthening Practical Handling Capabilities for Digital Sexual Violence and Sexual Crime Response
Training for Sexual Incident Handlers at Provincial Office of Education, Education Support Offices, Affiliated Institutions, and Schools
In Collaboration with Gyeonggi Northeast Sunflower Center and Gyeonggi Gender Violence Integrated Response Team
Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education is conducting education on sexual violence and digital sex crimes to enhance the capabilities of personnel handling sexual misconduct cases and to provide tailored support for victims. The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education (Superintendent Lim Tae-hee) announced on the 10th that it has conducted training on responding to sexual violence and digital sex crimes to enhance the capabilities of personnel handling sexual misconduct cases and provide tailored support for victims.
The training was attended by about 200 personnel responsible for handling sexual misconduct cases from the Provincial Office of Education, Education Support Offices, affiliated institutions, and schools at all levels, and was held on the 10th and 11th.
Experts from related organizations such as the Gyeonggi Northern Provincial Police Agency, Korea Women's Policy Institute, Gyeonggi Northeast Baragi Center, and Gyeonggi Gender Violence Integrated Response Team participated as instructors to share real case studies.
The training covered topics including ▲support systems for victims by investigative agencies ▲countermeasures against deepfakes ▲sharing cases of sexual violence crisis response ▲understanding stalking and dating violence ▲sharing cases of digital sex crimes ▲guidance on victim support by related organizations.
In particular, the training focused on new types of crimes such as illegal synthetic materials (deepfakes) spreading in group chats in cyberspace, stalking, and dating violence, and dealt intensively with victim support systems and cases from victim support organizations. It also provided detailed guidance on prevention and response measures in case of incidents, including deepfakes, to enhance the understanding of personnel in charge.
Lee Ji-myeong, Director of the Life and Character Education Division at the Provincial Office of Education, said, “Due to high interest from the field last year, we prepared this training again this year. We hope this will be an opportunity to strengthen the response capabilities to sexual violence and digital sex crimes in institutions and schools under the Provincial Office of Education and to focus on protecting victims and preventing secondary damage.”
Meanwhile, the Provincial Office of Education plans to conduct separate customized training for senior officials from the 14th to the 16th to respond to sexual violence and digital sex crimes.
