Goyang Special City in Gyeonggi Province is sponsoring the event, hosted by the Goyang branch of the Korea Federation of Artistic and Cultural Organizations, and organized by the Goyang branch of the Korea Music Association. The ‘5GO Concert - The Scent of Gagok’ will be held on the 11th at 8 PM at the Aram Music Hall in Goyang Aram Nuri.

Planned under the theme “The Beautiful 100-Year Journey of Our Gagok,” the ‘5GO Concert - The Scent of Gagok’ features about 20 representative Korean art songs including △Yoon Hak-jun’s ‘Majung’ △Na Un-young’s ‘Dalbam’ △Hong Nan-pa’s ‘Bongseonhwa’ △Hyun Je-myeong’s ‘To the Land of Hope,’ offering a special concert where the beauty of Korean music can be experienced all in one place.

Additionally, professional musicians will enhance the performance with △Violin by Lee Ji-yeon △Viola by Koo Jeong-hoe △Cello by Kim Yeo-jung and Choi Soo-won △Flute by Ban Jin-ah and Lim Kyung-jin △Oboe by Moon Ye-ji △Bassoon by Kim Jeong-in △Horn by Kim Hyo-jung and Park Ji-hyun △Trumpet by Jeon Hwa-jong and Kim Eun-seong △Trombone by Kwon Min-kyung △Piano by Shim Gwan-seop, Kim Shin-young, Han Ah-reum, Lee A-ram, and Kim Tae-won. Vocalists include △Sopranos Jung Hoe-jeong, Choi Sun-ja, Noh Young-hwa, Kim Hyun-jung, Kim Soo-mi, Park Da-jeong, and Lim Young-shin △Tenors Jung Jae-hwan, Lee Sung-gu, Koo Bon-jin, and Kang Hyung-mo △Baritones Chae Young-jun and Kim Jong-woo, allowing audiences to feel the essence of Korean music through our traditional gagok songs.

Jung Kyung-sook, head of the Goyang branch of the Korea Music Association, said, “This performance will include explanations of the background and meaning of each piece to help the audience appreciate the music more deeply.” She added, “In addition to this event, on the 12th and 13th at 5 PM, a classical concert titled ‘Afternoon Music Magic Show’ will be held at the Singing Fountain in Ilsan Lake Park as part of Gyeonggi Province’s Culture Day events, aiming to fill Goyang City with beautiful classical music. We ask for the citizens’ great interest and participation.”

A city official stated, “As autumn deepens, we hope that the ‘5GO Concert - The Scent of Gagok,’ which will offer touching moments to all who love gagok, will provide a time for citizens weary from daily life to heal their body and mind.”
