Declaration of Commitment at Siwaho 30th Anniversary Ceremony
"International Theme Park to Become a World-Class Tourist Attraction"

Jeong Myeong-geun, mayor of Hwaseong City in Gyeonggi Province, declared his determination to make Sihwa Lake a global model case of land reclamation.

Mayor Jeong made this announcement on the 10th at the '30th Anniversary Ceremony of Sihwa Lake' held at Ansan Sihwa Narae Rest Area. The event was attended by Mayor Jeong, Park Sang-woo, Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, Lee Byung-hwa, Vice Minister of Environment, Lim Byung-taek, mayor of Siheung City, Yoon Seok-dae, president of Korea Water Resources Corporation (K-water), and others.

In his congratulatory speech, Mayor Jeong revealed Hwaseong City's waterfront urban development plan centered on Sihwa Lake. He said, "Through the development of Songsan Green City, we will create a new city with a population of 150,000 and attract Paramount, a world-renowned film production and distribution company, as an international theme park IP company, making Sihwa Lake a key axis of economic growth." He added, "In particular, we will definitely make the international theme park a global tourist attraction."

He continued, "To re-examine the historical value of Sihwa Lake and make it a world exemplary case of land reclamation, we will closely cooperate with Siheung City, Ansan City, and K-water."

At the event, a master plan vision was presented to transform the Sihwa Lake area into a ‘Job-Residence-Comfort (職住安樂) Five-Sense City’ where jobs, housing, energy, culture, and marine tourism harmonize.

Earlier that morning, in the lobby of Hwaseong City Hall, Shinsegae Hwaseong, a subsidiary of Shinsegae Group specializing in real estate development, complex theme parks, and leasing, held the 'Hwaseong International Theme Park Global IP Company Attraction Declaration Ceremony.' At the event, Shinsegae Hwaseong announced that it had selected the global media group 'Paramount Global' as the IP company and plans to build a complex on a 4.2 million square meter site in Songsan Green City, Hwaseong, including 1.19 million square meters of entertainment facilities, Starfield, golf courses, hotels, resorts, and residential apartments.

Accordingly, Paramount will directly participate in the theme park design, establishing amusement facilities featuring its IP and developing specialized content such as various show programs, in-house planned merchandise (MD), and food and beverage (F&B) offerings. Paramount provides TV and film content worldwide through channels including CBS, Paramount Pictures, Nickelodeon, MTV, and Paramount.

Mayor Jeong said, "I am pleased to attract Paramount, a global company, as the IP company for Hwaseong International Theme Park," and added, "We will actively support the theme park, a core project for balanced city development, to become an international tourist destination."
